KC motorist wounded during armed carjacking

A Kansas City motorist sustained a non life-threatening injury early Wednesday after being shot during an armed carjacking in the 3700 block of Washington Avenue, according to police.

Officers were summoned to the incident just before 3 a.m. Arriving officers contacted the victim who said he was approached by a man who pointed a gun at him and demanded his car keys.

The victim was shot as the two struggled over control of the handgun. The gunman sped away in the victim’s car.

Officers later found the stolen car at 30th Street and Booth Avenue. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police had no suspect information.
