Pedestrian running across I-435 in Kansas City is struck, killed

A pedestrian crossing Interstate 435 near U.S. 40 in Kansas City was struck and killed by a pickup late Friday, authorities said.

A Chevrolet Silverado was heading southbound when the victim ran across the highway and into the vehicle’s path shortly after 11 p.m., police said.

The driver told police he did not see the victim. The driver stopped immediately and called police. The victim died at the scene.
