Teen charged in Independence homicide tossed clothing, gun in creek bed, police say
A 17-year-old accused of murder in a shooting that killed an Independence man and injured a woman allegedly tossed clothing and a gun into a creek bed after the incident.
Prosecutors charged Antonio Stocker III with one count each of second-degree murder and first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
Stocker is accused of shooting to death Elud Hernandez, 46, of Independence and injuring a woman, who remained hospitalized Wednesday.
The shooting occurred Tuesday morning at an apartment complex in the 600 block of North Peck Court.
According to court records, witnesses told police two men outside a residence in the 600 block of North Peck Court were firing shots, including Hernandez.
Police found shell casings in the street.
Stocker told police he shot Hernandez when Hernandez was unarmed. Stocker and another man allegedly tossed clothing and a gun in a creek bed, court records indicate.
Prosecutors requested Stocker’s bond be set at $150,000.
