Vehicle flees Independence police; driver tries to run down officer
Independence police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Ninth Street and Crisp Avenue at 1:29 a.m. Sunday.
The vehicle continued on a few blocks, then went off the road and struck a fence. The driver put the vehicle in reverse and struck a police car, then turned around and drove directly at an officer who had gotten out of his vehicle.
The officer shot at the vehicle, and the vehicle turned away. It was found abandoned a few blocks away. Police arrested three people in connection with the incident.
There were no apparent injuries to any of the officers or suspects.
