Sibley man faces manslaughter charge in Independence hit-and-run
Jackson County prosecutors accused a Sibley man Monday of killing another motorist in Independence and fleeing the scene.
They charged Theron Michael Stockbridge, 21, with involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident in connection with the 9:15 p.m. Friday wreck at U.S. 24 and Blue Mills Road in northeast Independence.
The wreck killed Aaron C. Overman, 34, of Buckner, who was waiting at a stop light when the driver of an eastbound 2008 Dodge 2500 pick-up truck rear-ended his 2014 Mazda 6.
Stockbridge was charged in January with car theft, property damage and resisting arrest in an Independence case, online court records show. He also faces a car theft charge from January in a Lee’s Summit case.
