Woman killed in hit-and-run in Independence; manhunt underway for driver
A search is underway for the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a woman early Thursday in Independence.
The woman was walking across U.S. 24 at Liberty Street about 2 a.m. when she was struck, according to Independence police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The unknown vehicle was traveling east on U.S. 24 when it struck the victim. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle.
Police asked for help in finding the vehicle and the driver. No descriptions were available.
