Suspect surrenders without incident after 5-hour standoff with KC police

A suspect surrendered without incident after a standoff with Kansas City police that lasted nearly five hours.

Tactical officers were called to a residence in the 7700 block of Northeast 53rd Street about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday after reports of an armed barricaded person.

Officers soon discovered the suspect was wanted and possibly armed with firearms.

The suspect, police said, refused to exit the residence for hours but surrendered about 9:30 p.m.
