A six-hour overnight standoff in Kansas City ended peacefully early Tuesday when a man surrendered to police.

Police received a call reporting a domestic violence assault about 11 p.m. in the 3000 block of Lister Avenue.

Arriving officers found a woman who told them that her husband had assaulted her and was armed with a handgun.

As officers approached the house, the man allegedly told police that he would shoot them if they tried to arrest him.

Police initiated an Operation 100, which is a tactical response when there’s a person believed to be armed inside a building refusing to surrender to police. Negotiators were also called to the house.

After about six hours, the man peacefully surrendered to police about 5:20 a.m., according to police.
