High-speed chase following armed robbery in downtown KC nabs the wrong guys
Kansas City police and other several neighboring agencies were involved in a high-speed police chase early Wednesday involving a crew suspected in an armed robbery at 12th and Main streets.
Turns out, they were chasing the wrong guys.
Officers responded to the hold-up call just after 3 a.m. The victim told arriving officers he was approached by a man who struck him in the head with a pistol. The gunman grabbed money from the victim and took off running, jumped into a black SUV and sped away.
Minutes later officers spotted a black SUV as it drove by and began to chase it.
The pursuit continued for several miles and ended in the 2800 block of Verona Road in Mission Hills. Police arrested the three occupants inside the speeding SUV. The driver bolted from the car but was nabbed by police not far away, according to officials.
It turned out that the occupants that were arrested had nothing to do with the earlier robbery on Main Street. But the driver was wanted for an outstanding felony and he was in possession of drugs, according to Kansas City police.
And the suspected hold-up man from the downtown robbery? He apparently is still on the loose.
