Olathe police evacuated a home and closed nearby streets Monday afternoon after a suspicious item was reported inside the residence.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. in the 16700 block of West 156th Street.

The item “was deemed harmless and did not pose a threat,” according to a police announcement, which did not specify what the item was.
