Woman killed in hit and run collision on U.S. 71 early Saturday

A pedestrian died during early morning hours on Saturday when she was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 71 south of 51st Street, the Kansas City Police Department said.

The woman, who died immediately or soon after the collision, has not been identified. The vehicle fled from the scene headed southbound on U.S. 71.

Kansas City police believe the suspect vehicle sustained substantial damage to the front right side and its windshield.
