Released felon back in custody when authorities found a gun after Olathe wreck
Six weeks after he was released from prison, a Johnson County man was back in custody Friday for possessing a gun found after an Olathe traffic crash.
Cody James Wright, 24, was allegedly driving under the influence when the wreck occurred Thursday afternoon on U.S. 169 at 175th Street.
Four vehicles, including a semi, were involved in the crash, but Wright was the only one injured, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
According to the report, a pickup truck driven by Wright struck two other vehicles on U.S. 169, ran off the road, then back on to the highway before running a red light and striking the semi.
He was charged Friday in Johnson County District Court with DUI and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Wright, of Spring Hill, had been released from prison May 12, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.
