Overland Park man charged with possessing pipe bomb

A 29-year-old Overland Park man has been charged with illegally possessing a pipe bomb.

Jonathan A. Hoffman was charged Thursday in Johnson County District Court with criminal use of explosives.

He allegedly possessed the device on June 9, according to court documents.

Bond for Hoffman was set at $50,000, and he was being held Friday in the Johnson County Detention Center.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
