KCPD responds to nonfatal shooting in south Kansas City

Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday near an elementary school in south Kansas City.

Officers were called to the 10000 block of Marsh Avenue around 3:30 a.m. and found the victim near Johnson Elementary School with a non life-threatening injury.

According to police, a group had gathered on the school’s playground. Several witnesses said they heard gunshots. The victim was taken to the hospital.

No suspect information was available.
