Two arrested after Clay County deputy is struck by fleeing vehicle
Clay County sheriff’s authorities arrested two persons following a brief car chase that started when one of the individuals struck a sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle while fleeing.
Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Walmart at Missouri 152 and North Church Road in Kansas City, North.
When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver put the car in reverse and struck the deputy, knocking him to the ground. The motorist struck the deputy’s patrol car while driving out of the parking lot, said Jon Bazzano, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

A brief vehicle pursuit ended at Missouri 152 and Interstate 35, where the suspects drove into a wooden area behind the store and were taken into custody, Bazzano said.

The vehicle driven by the suspects was reported stolen from Kansas City.
The deputy was treated at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
