Lawrence police make arrests in gun-related crime spree

Lawrence police have made three arrests in a spree of incidents involving guns, including two armed robberies.

Police said they believed the suspects were involved in four incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Three of the incidents occurred late Wednesday afternoon within a short period of time.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to a reported robbery in the parking lot of a business at 23rd and Louisiana streets.

As officers were arriving at that that scene, they were dispatched to the 1900 block of Rhode Island Street to investigate another incident involving a firearm.

Within seconds of receiving that call, police were called to the scene of another disturbance involving weapons in the area of 15th Street and Haskell Avenue.

Officers then spotted a suspect vehicle and after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit, they took three people into custody.

Police said they believe the suspects were also involved in a home invasion robbery that occurred late Tuesday night in the 1700 block of West 24th Street.
