Video shows men armed with sledgehammer, machete during Louisburg, Kan., robbery

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office released video Tuesday of a weekend convenience store robbery during which two men were armed with a sledgehammer and a machete.

The robbery occurred about 10 p.m. Saturday at the Dominator Fuel convenience store at 115 Harvest Drive in Louisburg, Kan.

The video shows two men wearing gray short-sleeved T-shirts, black shorts and orange bandanas rush into the store. One man can be seen threatening the clerk with the sledge hammer.

The two men demanded that the employees open the cash registers. Once they did, the men took the cash and then fled on foot.

Miami County sheriff’s deputies and a police dog from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. The dog tracked the men to the 300 block of Rockville Road, where the men are believed to have gotten into an unknown type of vehicle.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office released the surveillance video hoping that someone would recognize the men.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Miami County Sheriff’s Office at 913-294-3232.
