Vehicle fleeing Greenwood police causes serious injury crash in Lee’s Summit

A vehicle fleeing from Greenwood police crashed in Lee’s Summit Monday night, seriously injuring several people, according to media reports.

A Greenwood police officer checking on a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Casey’s General Store saw a vehicle pull away from the pumps and start driving erratically on Missouri 150.

The officer pursued the vehicle believing the convenience store had been robbed, according to KMBC.

During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle forced several other vehicles off the road. The vehicle collided with another vehicle near Missouri 350 and Northwest Colbern Road.

Several people were taken to the hospital, some with serious injuries.
