KC police involved in Monday afternoon shooting
Kansas City police are investigating an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon in central Kansas City.
Police were called to the 4100 block of Forest Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on a shooting. Police said the officers encountered an armed subject in a shooting in progress with another person. The officers shot the armed subject. That person and the second person, who was shot prior to officers arriving, were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
According to a passer-by whose relatives live in a house next door, multiple shots were heard. Because people remained in the house where the shooting happened, police set up a perimeter around the home and cut off public access to the area.
The officers involved were not injured and were placed on administrative leave.
The incident was roughly one block east from where police had set up a perimeter around a house near 41st Street and Troost Avenue in a separate incident. That incident ended with police arresting a man inside a house.
