Shawnee man faces animal cruelty charges in dog poisoning case
A Shawnee man faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly poisoning a neighbor’s dog twice.
Shawnee police arrested Michael J. Culp on Thursday on a warrant charging him with two felony counts.
The dog, a 3-year-old shepherd-pointer mix named Ginger, survived after receiving emergency veterinary care.
According to court documents filed in Johnson County District Court, the poisoning incidents occurred in December and earlier this month.
Culp, 48, made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon and was released from custody after posting a $25,000 bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for March 25.
