One injured in shooting in Kansas City’s Northeast area

Police were investigating a shooting Saturday night in Kansas City’s Northeast area that injured one person.

The shooting was reported about 8:20 p.m. near Independence Avenue and Maple Boulevard.

According to a police dispatcher, the victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A suspect was seen running north on Maple with a handgun.
