Charges filed in KC-area hair salon burglaries
Charges have been filed against a 33-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man in connection with a string of burglaries at area hair salons.
Overland Park police and deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Justin James Adkins on Friday morning at a home in Kansas City, Kan.
A warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday in Johnson County District Court charging him with burglary. His bond is set at $100,000, according to jail records.
Court records outlining the specific charges were not available Friday afternoon.
More than a dozen Great Clips salons have been broken into over the last several months in cities throughout the Kansas City area.
The most recent burglary was reported Friday morning in the 14900 block of West 87th Street in Lenexa. Earlier this week, two businesses in Shawnee were also victimized.
Adkins was found hiding in a closet and officers reportedly had to use a Taser during the arrest.
He has a prior convictions for burglary in Wyandotte County and for theft and drug offenses in Johnson County, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.
