Body found in Leavenworth County identified as KCK woman, 22

The body of a young woman discovered Sunday in a Leavenworth County field was that of a 22-year-old woman, investigators said Tuesday.

Leavenworth County deputies found the body of Karissa Warren, of Kansas City, Kan., about 8:30 a.m. Sunday in a field near Kansas 5 and Marxen Road near the Leavenworth County line.

Investigators are treating the death as a homicide, said Major James Sherley of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies and detectives continue to follow up leads, Sherley said in a written statement.
