Former Lenexa employee accused of stealing from city
The former technology director for the city of Lenexa has been accused of misappropriating nearly $100,000 in city funds.
Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that Andrew L. Davey is charged with five counts of wire fraud and one count of theft of government funds.
Davey, 44, of Overland Park, made his first appearance Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan.
According to court documents, Davey worked for the city from January 2010 to July 2013.
During that time, according to the allegations, he used city money to purchase electronic equipment such as cameras and laptop computers. He then resold some of the items on eBay, traded others and gave some to people as gifts. He kept money obtained from the scheme for his own personal use, according to the allegations.
