Thieves break into cars at Overland Park hotels
Thieves, for the second time in about a week, broke into about a half dozen vehicles parked outside an Overland Park hotel early Tuesday.
The break-ins were discovered about 4:30 a.m. outside the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Overland Park-West at 8787 Reeder St.
Police were still investigating the break-ins and had found six victims by mid-morning.
Police did not have any suspect information except that officers are looking for possible suspect vehicle described as a gray Kia SUV.
The early morning break-ins are not believed to be related to the break-ins of dozens of vehicles parked outside Overland Park hotels last week, said Officer Jackie Zickel, a spokeswoman for Overland Park police.
Those thefts were reported at seven hotels near Interstate 435 and Metcalf Avenue on Aug. 18.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect vehicle described as a red Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am.
Anyone with information is asked to call Overland Park police at 913-895-6300 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
