Woman dies following Tuesday wreck involving car that fled KCK police
An elderly woman whose car was hit by a vehicle fleeing Kansas City, Kan., police on Tuesday has died, authorities said Wednesday.
Police attempted to stop a stolen black Cadillac Eldorado shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Central Avenue, but the driver fled. The officer did not pursue the Cadillac, police said.
About two minutes later, police learned that the Cadillac had hit a Toyota Camry in the 3800 block of Haskell Avenue. The driver of the Toyota, a woman in her late 70s, was ejected. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police learned late Tuesday that she had died.
The driver of the Cadillac fled on foot after the wreck, police said. Investigators are questioning a person in connection with the crime, police said.
