Police open death investigation after discovery of body near KC park

Police were trying to determine the cause of death of a man after the discovery of a body in a wooded area Wednesday afternoon in south Kansas City.

Officers found the man dead about 4:20 p.m. in a wooded area near Legacy West Park at 92nd Street and Troost Avenue.

Police said they were treating the discovery as a death investigation.

The victim was described as a white man in his mid-50s.
