Unusual child porn case lands 68-year-old Kansas City man in prison
A 68-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday in a child pornography case with an odd twist.
Patrick O. Chapin pleaded guilty Wednesday to receiving child pornography over the internet and was sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison.
Among the more than 2,000 child pornography images found on Chapin’s computer, investigators found several images that he digitally altered to make it appear like he was having sex with children.
According to court documents, Chapin took pictures of himself in nude poses, then combined them with images of children he had obtained online.
The child pornography was discovered by a technician after Chapin took his computer to a repair shop.
The technician then contacted Kansas City police, and a subsequent search of the computer uncovered more than 2,000 still images and 101 videos of child pornography.
