A 42-year-old Kansas City-area man posed as a teenager and had sex with a 14-year-old girl he met online, according to federal prosecutors.

Nathan R. Caylor, of Kansas City, Kan., pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to charges of enticing a child for illegal sexual activity and receiving child pornography.

Caylor began communicating online with the girl in 2013, according to court documents.

He told her he was 17. He told her that he looked older because of radiation and chemotherapy treatment he received for cancer. Prosecutors said he had never been diagnosed with cancer.

Caylor traveled to the girl’s home several times to have sex with her. He also sent pornographic photos of himself to her.

In 2014, Blue Springs police learned of Caylor’s contact with the girl.

A detective assumed her identity online, and Caylor asked if he could see her that day, according to the documents. Later, he was arrested as he walked to her house.

In a subsequent search of his computer, investigators found images of child pornography.
