A man shot in the face at home in the Waldo neighborhood Monday is expected to survive, according to Kansas City police.

The shooting was reported about 4:15 p.m. at a house near 74th Terrace and Oak Street. Police said the man reported he was in his bedroom when two men pistol-whipped him and shot him.

He said the men stole two pairs of tennis shoes as they fled.

Police said the man’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Investigators were trying to determine whether the men were invited guests or intruders.
