Two people charged in the child abuse death of a 4-year-old girl in Kansas City, Kan., have surrendered to authorities.

Kansas City, Kan., police on Tuesday said they were looking for 28-year-old Devondre Sanders and Sierra Mitchell, 23, in connection with the death in May of Honesty Sanders.

Police said both turned themselves in at the Wyandotte County Detention Center. Mitchell was booked into jail late Tuesday night and Sanders was booked in early Wednesday morning.

The little girl was found injured inside an apartment in the 700 block of Vermont Avenue, and died several days later at a hospital.

Her death was not ruled a homicide until earlier this month.

Devondre Sanders is Honesty’s father, and Mitchell is his girlfriend.

They are each charged in Wyandotte County District Court with first-degree murder. Jail records also show that Sanders is charged with child abuse.

Bond for each is set at $500,000.
