Harrisonville police say a fire at an officer’s home on Sunday is being investigated as an arson.

Police say the fire was reported early Sunday morning and the officer was called home from work. The fire severely damaged the house.

The officer’s significant other, also a law enforcement officer, and their children escaped the house uninjured.

Law enforcement officials said the fire is suspicious and is being treated as an arson.

In a Facebook post Monday, the department said it was unclear if the family needed additional support.

“At this point we are not sure of any needs for the family as they are dealing with investigators and insurance adjusters today,” the post read.

No other details were immediately available.
