Pool cue killing leads to prison term for Johnson County man
A 33-year-old man was sentenced Friday to seven years and six months in prison for killing another man with a pool cue last year at a Johnson County bar.
Gregory B. David Cooper was sentenced in Johnson County District Court where he previously pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the death of Tyler Knudsen.
Knudsen, 23, was fatally injured last December inside the Boxcar Bar & Grill at 100 E. Second St. in Edgerton.
Cooper, 33, of Edgerton, had been involved in an altercation with another bar patron and was walking out of the bar when he felt someone bump him from behind, according to previous court testimony.
He turned and swung the pool cue, striking Knudsen in the neck. Knudsen was not involved in the altercation, according to testimony.
