Found unresponsive on a floor in May, child’s death now classified as a homicide

Kansas City, Kan. police are investigating the May death of a 4-year-old as a homicide.

The child was found May 27 lying on the floor of an apartment in the 700 block of Vermont Avenue after officers responded to a call of a unresponsive juvenile.

Officers performed CPR on the child until she was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.

Kansas City, Kan., authorities upgraded the case to a homicide Tuesday. A suspect is not in custody, police said.
