Charges filed in Leawood restaurant robbery

Prosecutors charged a homeless Kansas City man Friday with the armed robbery of a Leawood McDonald’s restaurant on Wednesday.

Otis Powell-Ramey faces charges of aggravated robbery and two counts of kidnapping. His bond was set at $500,000.

The robbery occurred early Wednesday at the restaurant at 119th Street and Roe Avenue.

A man armed with a gun held up two employees and forced them into a freezer before escaping, according to Leawood police.

Powell-Ramey, who turned 24 on Friday, was arrested Thursday, according to jail records.
