A 21-year-old Kansas City man was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder in the shooting death on Christmas Eve 2011 of Joseph T. Jones.
A Jackson County jury recommended Dalvin D. Johnson be sentenced to 30 years on the murder charge and 30 years on three related counts. Sentencing is scheduled for May 1.
Johnson and Adrian M. Botello, along with two juveniles, plotted to rob Jones, 22, after luring him outside of his home. After a confrontation, Johnson shot Jones. His body was found near 24th Street and Denver Avenue. Botello pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday.
