Six Kansas City-area residents are now facing federal charges of conspiring to use online dating ads to set up victims for armed robberies.

Three of the defendants were charged in June. On Tuesday, those three along with three other defendants were indicted by a federal grand jury in Kansas City.

Kenneth W. Sexson, 32; Nicole L. Covey, also known as Nicole Waguespack or Nicole Preston, 33, of Sugar Creek; Sage E. Harrison, 35; Devon Davis-Aumua, 21; Serina Campos, 23, of Independence; and Ray Mahurin, 34, of Blue Springs, are charged in an 11-count indictment that stems from a series of armed robberies across the Kansas City area.

According to documents filed in federal court, ads were placed on sites such as Craigslist, Backpage and Skout.

People who answered the ads were then robbed at gunpoint, according to the allegations.
