A 27-year-old man was shot Sunday evening in front of his wife and two young children during a robbery near a Grandview apartment complex.

Grandview police dispatchers received a 911 call about 8 p.m. saying that shots were being fired near the Daisy Walnut Apartments in the 12700 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard. Another caller told dispatchers that a man had been shot.

When police arrived, they found the victim. He was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that the man, his wife and their 3-year-old and 5-year-old children were in the family’s vehicle when two men approached, one wearing a dark ski mask, according to police.

The robbers demanded the woman’s purse at gunpoint. During the robbery, one of the robbers fired shots hitting the husband.

The robbers fled in a dark-colored sedan that was occupied by two others.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
