KCK man pleads guilty in sexual abuse case involving a 2-year-old

A 22-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man charged with multiple felonies for allegedly offering to provide a 2-year-old child for sex has pleaded guilty to two counts related to the case.

Zachary Garrett pleaded guilty Wednesday in Wyandotte County District Court to one count of rape and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy in connection with the sexual abuse of a 2-year-old girl.

Garrett was arrested in June after an investigation that began in southern Missouri, according to prosecutors.

A posting on Craigslist led to Garrett communicating with undercover police officers, and he allegedly offered the child for sexual activity, prosecutors said.

Sentencing is set for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 2 in Division 16 of the court.
