$10,000 reward is offered in Belton road rage killing

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information in the apparent road rage killing of a 37-year-old Belton man.

Benjamin Friend was fatally shot around 5:40 p.m. Oct. 18 in the area of Prospect Avenue and Missouri 150 in Belton.

Belton police are looking for a man who was driving a small red vehicle at the time of the shooting, which they believe was a road rage incident.

The vehicle was described as a newer sports coupe with black rims, tinted windows and a loud exhaust.

Police said they believe both vehicles were traveling west on Missouri 150 and then turned south on Prospect.

Friend’s killing was one of three road rage homicides in the Kansas City area within a week.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
