The deaths of two Kansas City residents in December have been ruled as homicides.
Police waiting for Jackson County medical examiner rulings before classifying the killings of Deleisha Kelley on Dec. 21 and Tevin D. Thrower on Dec. 31 as homicides.
Their deaths bring Kansas City’s homicide total for 2014 to 79, the city’s lowest homicide total since 1972.
Kelley, 16, was found dead near an abandoned building in the 3600 block of East 24th Street. Police have not said how she died.

Thrower, 21, was found shot to death outside an apartment building in the 1300 block of East 82nd Terrace.
Police said there are no suspects in custody in either case. They ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
