A fight between two women in a midtown Kansas City apartment Saturday ended with one of the women stabbed to death.
On Sunday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said that Levolia R. Kelso, 23, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. She is accused of killing Mikelle A. Green, 19.
Kansas City police, responding Saturday to an apartment building in the 3000 block of East Linwood Boulevard, found Green dead on the floor of the bedroom. She had suffered 12 “injuries to her person,” according to the police probable cause statement.
A knife was found on the bed.
Kelso, the suspect, was in the apartment. She told police she lived there and had allowed Green to stay Friday night. Green woke her up Saturday wanting her to go buy cigarettes, Kelso told police. She said she told Green to leave but Green refused.
Kelso said the two started wrestling and then she grabbed a knife and stabbed Green twice in the neck.
Kelso also reportedly told police that she tried to render first aid and called 911.
