Prison ordered for man charged for burning down a Joplin mosque

A 32-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to five years and three months in prison for burning down a mosque in Joplin and attempting to burn down a Planned Parenthood facility.

Jedediah Stout, of Joplin, was sentenced in federal court in Joplin where he pleaded guilty in April to setting the 2012 fire that destroyed the Islamic Society of Joplin mosque.

Stout also admitted to two attempts to set fire to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Joplin in 2013.

In addition to the prison sentence, Stout was ordered to pay more than $700,000 in restitution.
