The Sunday night killing of a 22-year-old woman appears to be the result of a road rage incident, Independence police said Monday.

Whitney M. Gray was driving a minivan with three children inside when she was fatally shot just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday near Winner Road and Sterling Avenue, according to police.

The passengers — a teenager; a 3-year-old; and an 8-month-old — were not injured.

Police said they are searching for a white SUV they believe was involved in the incident.
