Kansas City police chase leads to rape investigation
A man who led Kansas City police on an early Friday car chase is being investigating for an alleged rape and kidnapping.
The incident began about 12:40 a.m. Friday in central Kansas City when officers attempted to pull over a car. The driver refused to stop and a police helicopter began following the vehicle.
Officers on the ground discontinued the pursuit because the car was being driven recklessly, police said.
The car stopped and a woman got out of the car, which took off again. Eventually police found the car in Kansas City, North, and took the driver into custody.
The woman who had gotten out of the vehicle told police that she had been at a house near 36th Street and Cleveland Avenue when the suspect forced her into the car at gunpoint and raped her, according to police reports.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
