Kansas City police investigated a reported shooting and abduction Monday evening that led to a brief armed standoff at a home near 36th Street and Bales Avenue.
Officers were called to the home about 6:30 p.m. and found a man hiding in a shed behind the residence. The man told police he had been kidnapped at gunpoint by another man and driven around the city in his own vehicle before arriving at the home of the alleged assailant.
There, the victim said, the assailant struck him in the head with a handgun and shot at him.
Police learned from witnesses that the assailant was armed inside the home and officers established a perimeter. After a standoff lasting about an hour, a man fled the home on foot and was arrested.
