A previously convicted bank robber pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to robbing two more area banks last April.

Antonio P. Gaitan, 36, will be sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole as part of Tuesday’s plea agreement in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.

Gaitan, of Kansas City, Kan., admitted holding up the Country Club Bank near the Country Club Plaza last April 2 and robbing a branch of the Truity Credit Union in Lawrence last April 5.

At the time of the robberies, he was on supervised release for a 2009 bank robbery conviction, according to federal prosecutors.

As part of the plea agreement, he will have to serve an additional sentence of 24 to 31 months in prison for violating terms of his release. That sentence will be served consecutively to the 10-year sentence.

He will also have to pay $9,200 in restitution.
