Police in Merriam are investigating claims that a man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car at area Walgreens.

Merriam police are investigating claims that a man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl in his vehicle.

Police said the girl was coming out of Walgreens at 8701 Johnson Drive in Merriam about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when the man pulled up to the store’s exit doors and told the girl to get in and he would give her a ride home.

The girl went inside of the store and called her mother. Her mother called police.

Officers searched the area but could not find the car.

The man was described as a white, 50 to 60 years old, weighing around 200 pounds and has gray or white hair and facial hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark blue shirt and black basketball shorts.

Police do not know the make or model of the vehicle.
