A 19-year-old Overland Park man was sentenced Friday to 16 years and 10 months in prison for shooting a Merriam convenience store clerk in the face during a robbery.

Javon D. Mills was sentenced in Johnson County District Court where he pleaded guilty in July to charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

The September 2015 robbery and shooting occurred at a 7-Eleven in the 6800 block of Antioch Road.
