One man died and another fled on foot after a vehicle being pursued by Kansas City police crashed Wednesday.

One man was killed in a wreck, and another man fled from police on foot after a vehicle pursuit Wednesday.

The men were suspected in a residential robbery.

Kansas City police said the incident began about 11 a.m. Wednesday after officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West 87th Street on a report of a residential robbery.

Responding officers located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that had fled the scene.

The vehicle refused to stop for officers, police said, which initiated the pursuit.

Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before it eventually overturned and ejected both occupants near 90th Street and Raytown Road.

One man sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

The other occupant of the vehicle fled on foot and was still at large Wednesday evening. He is black, in his early- to mid-20s, with dreadlocks. He was wearing a white shirt and red shorts.

Anyone with information should call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
